Problems of Oriental Philosophy is a scientific and theoretical academic journal devoted to the study of philosophical thought in the Islamic cultural sphere and the broader intellectual heritage of Eastern civilizations. The journal was founded in 1996 by the distinguished Azerbaijani philosopher Professor Zumrud Guluzade, Doctor of Philosophy and Honored Scientist of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Professor Guluzade played a decisive role in establishing the journal and shaping its scholarly orientation. Under her leadership, the journal became an important academic forum dedicated to the study and promotion of Oriental philosophical thought.

The journal was officially registered by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 2, 1996 (Registration No. 108). From its foundation until 2021, Professor Zumrud Guluzade served as the Editor-in-Chief. During this period, Dr. Solmaz Rzaguluzade, Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy, served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief, contributing significantly to the journal’s editorial development and scholarly activities.

Over the years, the journal has been published under the auspices of several academic institutions. In different periods, the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS served as the publisher of the journal, supporting its scientific and organizational development. Since 2025, the official publisher of the journal has been IMCRA – International Meetings and Conferences Research Association.

From 1996 to 2024, the journal was published primarily in Azerbaijani and Russian languages under the titles:
